Sara Stapleton is corporate attorney based in San Francisco.
Sara’s legal practice is focused on mergers and acquisitions, angel and venture capital financing, investments, general corporate representation, company formation, founder representation, and negotiating commercial, publishing, marketing, licensing and distribution agreements. She specializes in providing outside general counsel services to emerging companies before they are ready to hire in-house counsel.
Prior to joining Foundation, Sara was a Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions and Business Affairs at Zynga, Inc., where she led investments, partnerships and mergers and acquisitions strategy for the social casino team. Sara also spent four years in Zynga’s legal department, where her last position was Associate General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. While at Zynga, Sara led legal teams focused on mergers and acquisitions, high value strategic and commercial transactions, public company matters, corporate governance, board matters, real estate, stock administration, real money gaming and international governance. Sara’s experience on both the legal and business side of negotiating acquisitions and commercial transactions gives her a unique perspective.
Before Zynga, Sara spent many years in private practice as a corporate lawyer at Ropes & Gray, LLP and Sullivan & Cromwell, LLP, where she focused on mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital transactions, public company and general corporate matters.
Sara received her Law Degree from New York University School of Law and is admitted to practice law in California. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from University of California at Santa Barbara and completed the Stanford Executive Program.
